Sisters of Mercy of North Carolina Foundation, Inc. is organized as a supporting organization to the South Central Community of the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas. It operates exclusively for the benefit and support of the South Central Community and assists it in furthering its charitable, religious and educational mission.
As a part of the South Central Community's charitable mission, the Foundation provides grants to selected tax exempt healthcare, educational and social service organizations, which effectively assist women, children, those who are elderly and those who are poor to improve the quality of their lives.
Grants are made primarily to organizations serving the Metrolina and western North Carolina regions. Grant requests are also considered from organizations serving other areas of North and South Carolina. The foundation values working with organizations whose efforts are collaborative, ecumenical and multi-cultural in terms of approach and goals.
All organizations seeking financial assistance must apply to the foundation through its grant application process. Organizations applying for and receiving grants must be willing to demonstrate accountability by working with the Foundation through various accountability mechanisms such as the application process, interviews, site visits and evaluation reports.
